Driving for Young’s is a little different from a traditional trucking job. While we do have limited full-time positions, much of our work follows California agriculture, which means the crops — not the calendar — determine when we get busy.
Most of our seasonal driving jobs are local and home daily, with short runs and multiple drop-and-hooks throughout the shift. It’s active work. Drivers are in and out of their trucks regularly and work in the heat, cold, dust, wind, and whatever else the season brings.
How Our Seasons Work
We can estimate when a harvest will start, but we can't control it. Weather, growing conditions, crop yields, customer needs, and market conditions all affect when work starts and how busy we are.
We typically start a season with a smaller number of drivers and add drivers as the harvest builds. Qualified drivers are generally brought in based on when they applied, so applying early can make a difference.
Most assignments get you home each day. At times, we also have opportunities for drivers willing to work away from home and stay in a hotel for several weeks or longer.
Flexibility Means More Opportunity
One of the best ways to stay busy at Young’s is to be flexible.
If one crop slows down, we may be able to move you to another crop, customer, location, or type of work. Drivers who are willing to adapt give us more opportunities to keep them working.
Agriculture can change quickly. A busy week can be followed by a slow one — and a slow harvest can suddenly get busy. That's the nature of the work.
How Pay Works
Young’s drivers are paid weekly using an hourly plus activity-bonus compensation system designed to comply with California law.
Weekly earnings vary based on available work, loads, assignments, and driver activity. Because of that, we advertise average earnings whenever possible. We believe that's the best way to give applicants a realistic picture of what drivers doing the job have actually earned.
Average earnings are not a guarantee. They are a guide to what you can reasonably expect based on the work historically available.

All Class A positions are based in California, with seasonal operations in Arvin, Bakersfield, Brawley, Coachella, Corcoran, El Centro, Firebaugh, Merced, Oakdale and Tipton.
Seasonal Jobs
Our seasonal truck driving jobs in Central California are a fast-paced, high energy opportunity. While these seasonal driving jobs are temporary, they do create potential for long term employment. As a Young’s seasonal CDL driver, you’ll log six days per week, 12 hours per day. Because we run round the clock, 24 hours per day, we require day and night crews and shifts are assigned. Our competitive pay is on an hourly-plus system in compliance with state laws.
Year-Round Jobs
Our year-round ag truck driving jobs are a great opportunity to earn competitive wages as well as benefits including 401K and health insurance. Enjoy weekly paychecks and home daily routes with one of our full time CDL truck driving positions. Compensation is on an hourly-plus system in compliance with state laws. Since Young’s trucks are running 24 hours per day, we hire for both day time and night time driving positions.

driving positions by the season
Citrus
Young's citrus season runs from November through May at our Tipton, California location. During the citrus season, we transport citrus from packinghouses throughout the valley to the processing facilities in Tipton. In this position, the drivers are home every night.
Carrots
Young's carrot season runs from February to June. During carrot season, we transport carrots from fields in California and the surrounding states to processing facilities. In this job, drivers occasionally stay in hotels.
Tomatoes
Young's tomato season runs from July to October in Buttonwillow, Corcoran, Firebaugh, Hollister and Oakdale. The tomato season with Young's is an intense and well paid 100 days. This season is very lucrative for those looking to make money. These drivers are at home every night and have the option of working 6 or 7 days.
Year-round driving positions
Feed
Young’s Feed Division Runs year-round, so these driers receive full time benefits like health insurance and access to our 401K program.. These drivers take the waste products like malt and citrus peel, from the processing facilities and deliver it to dairies where it is fed to cows. Feed drivers are home every night.
